Raspberry Margaritas

(these are so good, I just want to lie down beside them and swoon)

This makes about 6 regular servings or 2 of my kind out of those gargantuous glasses that I have to hold with two hands.

1 cup unsweetened frozen raspberries

1 cup of Grand Marnier or other orange liqueur

1 cup of Jose Cuervo or whatever tequila you like
(Jose Cuervo you are a friend of mine – oh yeah!)

½ cup fresh lemon or lime juice – whichever you have on hand

4 Tablespoons of sugar – (I like it sweet – you might try two to                                                                     start with and then add more sugar if you don’t like it as sweet                                                                     as I do)

Throw everything in a blender and blend it up and serve over ice.

                                                                And be prepared to SMILE!

Rachelle Ayala is a bestselling author of contemporary romance and romantic suspense. Her foremost goal is to take readers on a shared emotional journey with her characters as they grow and become more true to themselves. Rachelle believes in the power of love to overcome obstacles and feels that everyone should find love as often as possible, especially if it's within the pages of a book. Her book, Knowing Vera, won the 2015 Angie Ovation Award, and A Father for Christmas garnered a 2015 Readers' Favorite Gold Award.

1. Which three people (famous or otherwise) would you most like to invite to a dinner party?

First, I would like Agatha Christie, because I love her mysteries and whenever she’s at a dinner party, something interesting happens. I’ll make sure not to have a locked room. Ha. Ha.

Second, I’d love to invite Lucille Ball. I’ve always loved Lucy ever since I was a little girl. I especially remember that episode where she worked at a cookie factory and tried to eat up all her mistakes. She would be real fun to have.

Last, I’d invite Sable Hunter, because instead of a dinner party, I’d have an outdoor barbecue, and I’m betting we’ll have a rootin’-tootin’ time with the cookout and the McCoys, Sauciers, SEALs, and Cajuns.

2. Who has inspired you in your life and why?

My mom and dad, because they always believed that I could do whatever I put my mind to. They also backed me up whenever I needed support, and they never talked down my hobbies or interests.

3. How would your best friend describe you? Creative, kind-hearted, and loyal. I’m also a pushover, so that’s been brought to my attention.

4. How do you handle criticism? It rolls off like water over a duck’s back. I had a lady email me saying one of my books was the worst ever. I felt sorry for her that she didn’t get my jokes or enjoy my story.

5. What three things do you need to be successful in this industry?

Telling an honest story and being unafraid to be authentic

A sense of humor and ability to laugh at yourself and your characters. Don’t take things too seriously.

Social skills. Being friendly.

6. What are your greatest strengths and weaknesses?

Is this a job interview? My strengths turn into weaknesses. I’m a good organizer, but I also tend to take on too much work and instead of delegating, I do it all myself. I also start too many projects and hardly ever turn down an invitation to do something fun.

7. What type of writing environment do you prefer?

I can write anywhere. I have kids and whether I’m taking one to swimming, another to tennis or sitting under a tree waiting for their activities, or in the bleachers, I can pull out my laptop and write. Oh, you asked what I preferred? In my easy armchair with my feet propped up on an ottoman.

8. What was the first romance you read that stuck with you and why?

Finding Forever by Melisa Hamling. The yearning for love, despite not knowing who she is or where she is, or even if Ben is a figment of her imagination or a real man in a shadowy world entirely captivated me. Ben was everything caring and loving, a man of dreams, but even in paradise, evil lurks and there’s a mysterious force that might cost Morgan not only her heart, but her sanity. Mostly, it was the feels that got me, the way Morgan and Ben interacted gave me the chills.

9. Other than writing, what do you like doing in your spare time?

Oh gosh. I’m not sure if I have any spare time. However, when I’m not writing, I like to take walks and talk to my friends. I used to play musical instruments, but now I love to read.

10. What is the title of the last book you wrote? Tell us how you relate to one of the characters.

My most recent book is Bad Boys for Hire: Ken, newly released on Friday, June 24.

Jilted bride, Jolie Becker, goes on her honeymoon without her groom, but unbeknownst to her, her best friend hires former surfer Ken Cassidy to be her honeymoon date. How do I relate to Jolie? She’s hemmed in by her allergies and wonders how anyone could put up with her and her OCD. I have allergies, but am not OCD. Instead, I should wonder whether anyone would put up with my messiness and disorganization, but I don’t. What we do have in common is the ability to recognize that you can’t find true love until you love and accept yourself.

I haven’t gotten around to posting the book anywhere other than Amazon. That’s because Book #1, Bad Boys for Hire: Ryker is in Kindle Unlimited.

Excerpt:

“Sugar, you’re going to have to stop that.” He took her hand away from his erection. “I’m a believer of ladies first.”

Jolie stared up at Ken and swallowed a boatload of drool as he lifted himself and shucked off his shorts. The man was perfect, with no tan lines on his sculpted body. His cock was so thick and long, it looked positively scary.

She was fit to die and go to heaven when Ken lowered his lips to the line between her breasts. Skillful fingers untied the bikini top, and the second his tongue encircled one nipple, Jolie almost shot off the bed. He palmed her other breast and suckled slowly, deep and full, drawing out her nipple and rolling his tongue around the tip.

Jolie’s eyes closed and she arched her head back at the pleasure assaulting her with his heavy cock resting on her thigh, twitching for attention, full of luscious promise.

Could she handle it? She wasn’t that experienced. What if she was a dud in bed? She swallowed hard and stiffened as anxiety flooded her and the pleasure of his fondling diminished.

“Hey, you okay?” Ken lifted his head, his caring eyes blinking softly. “Did I do something wrong?”

“No, I’m not that experienced. I’m not a virgin, but I’ve only ever been with you know, the douche canoe.”

“That makes two of us.” He nuzzled her earlobe.

“You mean, you’ve been with the douchebag, too?” she joked.

“No, I chased tubular waves over women. Surfing is exhausting, and when your balls are freezing in cold water for hours at a time, you’re not in the mood to do more than warm up and sleep.”

“You warm them up with a woman?”

“I wish.” He shook his head, his blond hair dipping into his eyes. “The places I surfed, no sane woman would hang at. I venture to places no one else dares to surf, which means camping on windswept beaches with no amenities or creature comforts.”

“No high rise hotels, paved roads, and facilities.”

“Exactly. There’s no way you’re going to be outshined by anyone. But if I suck, well, guess you can kick me out of the bed.”

“Oh, you can keep sucking,” Jolie said, heartened at Ken’s humbleness when it came to sex. Too many men were arrogant, as if they were God’s gift in that department. Usually those types thought all they needed were a set of biceps and a hammering penis. Warren sure didn’t work for her fulfillment, quitting after a few pathetic attempts and blaming her for being unresponsive, before falling asleep.

“I’ll suck until you’re screaming for me to stop.” He nosed his way from her breasts to her belly button, kissing and licking, blowing softly. Goosebumps raised over her as he approached her bikini line.

Well, it’s been a good week and I’m looking forward to another. I finished one book and am about to complete another one. LOVE ME, I DARE YOU will be released early this week, probably Tuesday, Lord willing and the creek don’t rise – which in central Texas is always a fair to middlin possibility. TEXAS MAVERICK is so close to being through that I can see the whites of Maverick Cross’s eyes and I can tell you, I don’t mind looking at him either. To celebrate finishing the newest Hell Yeah! I went out and bought some BBQ, then stopped by the Container Store to get 3 wicker boxes to store things on that otherwise escape me – like…my glasses, the TV remote, my pen and plot notebook, my allergy medicine – you know, the essentials of life. My last stop before coming home was Petsmart to buy Mojo a Thundershirt. He doesn’t have anxiety when it thunders, not like Abby Grace, but he has horrible anxiety in the car, even though he begs like crazy to get to go somewhere. The ‘science’ behind the shirt is that it hugs the dog tightly. I was skeptical, but desperate. Once I purchased it, I put it right on him and his usual bat-shit-crazy display was reduced by at least half, if not more on the way home. I’m hopeful it will be the answer. I worked last night till 3 am on the final read of DARE before turning it over to the editors - - so, my next big step for today…is to take a nap.
I hope you all have a wonderful week.

She has been featured on CBS Sunday Morning and in The Village VoiceThe Daily Beast, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, The London Daily Mail. She lives in Florida with her cats who insist they help her write her books, and is addicted to football.

Hi, Sable, thanks so much for hosting me today. I love reading everything you’ve written and especially love the things we’ve collaborated on, so this is a real honor and a pleasure for me. Let’s see what I can tell your readers about me.

1. Which three people (famous or otherwise) would you most like to invite to a dinner party?

Sam Elliott (I am sooo in love with him), Neil Diamond (still sexy at his age) and Linda Howard, who taught me to love romantic suspense.

2. Who has inspired you in your life and why?

Wow, there are so many people. Where do I start? My mother, who taught me my love of books and reading. Dr. Al Kelley, my American History professor, who taught me how to make words come alive. Robyn Carr and Sherryl Woods, whose books showed me what a good storyteller can do. My boss at Saint Leo University, Dr. Arthur Kirk, who taught me how to conquer worlds and showed me it can be done. And that’s probably just the tip of the iceberg.

3.How would your best friend describe you?

(Laughing!) Driven. Impatient. Funny. Loving. Dedicated. Impatient. Oh,wait, I already said that, but I think I can’t say it enough.

4.How do you handle criticism?

I try to handle it like an adult. Where my writing is concerned I soak it up because I think only through criticism can you learn and become  better. Just don’t criticize my cooking!!!

5. What three things do you need to be successful in this industry?

A talent for telling a story, a willingness to learn, and the drive to make it happen, never give up. you can’t or you’ll miss the boat when it comes along.

6.What are your greatest strengths and weaknesses?

Okay, strengths: Drive to complete projects, willingness to learn, compassion for friends, love for my family, and wanting to put others before myself. Weaknesses: Impatience, impatience, impatience. Did I say impatience? LOL.

7. What type of writing environment do you prefer?

I love what I have now, a wonderful nook in my apartment where I can look out the sliders at the preserve and the water beyond, with my cats curled beneath me and the television playing because I can’t work in silence.

8. What was the first romance you read that stuck with you and why?

Cry No More by Linda Howard. First of all, it was a great story, very emotional. Secondly, I fell in love with her hero, Diaz. He still lives in my mind, I wrote my first book in an effort to create my own version of him. And it introduced me to romantic suspense, which after all my detours, is still my genre of choice.

9.Other than writing, what do you like doing in your spare time?

I read, a lot. Watch football and baseball. I exercise three times a week (oh wait, you said things I like!). And I like to spend time with my kids when I can and also my friends.

10. What is the title of the last book you wrote? Tell us how you relate to one of the characters.

The last book I wrote (not the last release) is Man of My Heart for Sable’s Hell Yeah Kindle World. It’s about a country singer. I spent a lot of years in the music business in another lifetime and loved it. Still do. I met so many interesting people and a lot of them are rolled into my heroine.

I’m including the info for Forward Pass, the first book in my football series, so I can tell everyone that for two more weeks only they can get it for just 99 cents. I am such a football addict, I loved writing this series. My hero is based on former college and NFL quarterback Brian Griese and there is a scene in the beginning of he book that actually happened on a plane trip with Brenna Zinn.

Step into the world of football and meet some very sexy guys. Forward Pass is Book #1 in the Game On series.

Get Ready to Play Rough

Shay Beckham grew up idolizing her brother’s best friend, star quarterback Joe Reilly. There was no one in their Texas town who had the moves to match Joe on or off the field. Years later, he’s still a player who has what it takes to drive any hot-blooded woman wild. But Shay isn’t a kid with a bad case of hero-worship anymore. She’s grown-up and independent, with her feet on the ground and a serious head on her shoulders. If she could just say the same for Joe.

It’s been fifteen years, but Joe Reilly hasn’t forgotten the skinny little kid who used to follow him around like a shadow. What he can’t get over is that the skinny shadow has grown into one hell of an incredible woman. One any man in his right mind would kill to get his hands on. And one who seems to be completely immune to him. He knows he and Shay could have something special together. If he could only convince her he’s about more than just the game.

Excerpt:

The taxi moved forward with a jerk and Shay’s eyes popped open. She leaned forward and tapped the driver on the shoulder.

“Did they clear away the wreck? We’re finally moving, right?”

“Yes, miss.” He shrugged. “But slowly.”

She rotated her neck, trying to work out some of the kinks. She’d been sitting in uncomfortable seats since she got in the shuttle to the airport and every muscle in her body ached. The hot shower was looking better and better. Or maybe she’d fire up the hot tub Hank had installed on the rear deck.

Hopefully, with all this delay caused by the wreck, by the time she got to the house Laura would be packed and gone. They pulled off the interstate and she mentally crossed her fingers and silently chanted, Let her be gone. But bad luck was still with her. When they turned onto her street and she spotted the car parked in the driveway, she swore under her breath. Laura Whoever was still here. Well, she’d better be getting ready to leave. Shay was in no mood to put up with bullshit. Sighing, she hauled her suitcase into the house, closed the door, and headed through the living room to her bedroom.

And stopped.

A hissing sound came from the shower in the bathroom connected to her bedroom and the guest room. Damn it! The least Hank could do was tell his little friends to use the master bath and leave hers alone. He had, after all, promised her that she’d have complete privacy.

“I travel a lot,” he’d told her. Then grinned. “And I’ll keep the sleepovers to those times you’re in New York.”

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

So how come this female hadn’t gotten the message she was supposed to be gone?

Crap! The door wasn’t even closed. Clouds of steam billowed in the bathroom and obscured the figure in the frosted-glass shower enclosure. Okay, enough was enough.

Shay stepped into the bathroom and banged her hand on the glass.

“This is my bathroom,” she ground out. “I’ve had a tough day and you don’t want to mess with me. Next time use Hank’s bathroom. This one is off-limits. Get your ass out of here in five seconds, or I won’t be responsible for my actions.”

She turned away, not the least bit interested in a glimpse of Laura Whoever’s nudity. She just wanted her out of the house.

The water stopped and the door slid open.

“Okay. I don’t want to cause you any more stress. But Hank said I should use this one.”

The deep voice shocked her and she turned around before she even thought about it. And nearly swallowed her tongue. A very wet, very naked Joe Reilly stood in her shower stall, grinning at her.

Just when she’d finally made up her mind to stop thinking about him and obsessing over him.

At that exact moment her cell phone chimed. A message from Hank.

“BTW, Joe’s in town, Take good care of him.”

Another Monday? Where is the time going? It’s past the middle of June. Heck, we’ll soon be singing Christmas carols at this rate. I know someone who works in the local hardware store and they’ve already got their Christmas stuff in. It’s in storage, but the idea that its already on-hand worries me. I got out for a little while today, went to a place called Cherry Creek Catfish on Manchaca. It was good. I took the fish and fries out of the box, ate and ate, all the time wishing I had some tartar sauce. When I was finished I picked up the sack and found the tartar sauce at the bottom. Made me so mad…isn’t that the way it goes? I’m still in my broken recliner. I rode down to LazyBoy on South 35 and went in to buy one. I’d bought one there when I first moved to Austin, walked in, bought it and left with it in the back of the truck. This time, they told me I couldn’t do that, I had to order the chair and wait for it to be delivered – so I left without it. Sometimes I’m so grouchy, I hurt myself. LAST SHIP premiered tonight. Boy, do I love to look at that Eric Dane. They postponed the new shows from last week because of the Orlando Shooting, which I thought was a respectful gesture. This should be a good week. Tuesday I get to talk to Cynthia D’Alba about her new book for the Hell Yeah! Kindleworld. She’s told me a little bit and it sounds fantastic. And she’s using the sexiest man on her cover! Other than that, I’m just writing. I’m working on a book called LOVE ME, I DARE YOU. This one’s fun because not only do you get to meet a new couple – Emma and Josh, you also get to revisit with Isaac and Avery McCoy.
 Here’s a snippet:
Josh was in heaven. He loved this part – the discovery, the flirting, the teasing. He kissed her long and wet – slow and deep – fast and furious, their tongues twisting, mating. He heard a desperate growling sound and realized it was coming from his own throat. Breaking the kiss, he skimmed his lips from her mouth to her neck, licking and nipping on the silky skin near the spot where her pulse fluttered with excitement. “Josh?” Emma whimpered, inhaling raggedly, her body pressing against his in a primal request. “Oh yea,” he groaned. “I think you’re ready for more.” He pulled on the tiny string holding her dress on one shoulder, then tugged on that intriguing curtain of lace, pulling it down past a pair of plump breasts barely contained with a sexy bra – mounds of creamy white flesh dusted with freckles. “Pretty, very pretty. Stand up and turn around.” Emma did so and Josh pulled the zipper down, allowing the dress to drop and pool at her feet. The only underwear she wore was a barely-there scrap of silk – white bikinis with a picture of a cowboy’s lasso on her heart-shaped rear. He smiled, then gently turned her so he could see the front. “So Many Cowboys, So Little Rope? Damn sexy. A woman after my own heart, love the saying.” “Are they pretty? Avery gave them to me.” “They’re better than pretty, they’re hot as hell.” He skimmed one finger beneath the top and drew it out, popping the elastic, making her shiver. “Avery has good taste in lingerie. But, honey, you fill them to absolute perfection.” You have a good week – be safe – and I’ll keep writing.
Sable

P. S. They caught the rock thrower who'd terrorized drivers on I-35. we wrote a fictionalized version of this in THE KEY TO MICAH'S HEART.
Ryan and I wrote a fictionalized version of this,in THE KEY TO MICAH'S HEART. We caught the guy too, pretended it was Madison's stepfather. Well, the real guy was a middle-aged, white, chubby tow truck driver. Seems he was throwing the rocks from overpasses, oncoming traffic, from behind pillars - lots of places, then riding up to the parked cars of the people he'd almost just killed, offering them help. Makes you wonder about folks, doesn't it.

Grease your pan and preheat the oven to 350F degrees

Ingredients

6 large flour tortillas

2 1/2 cups grated sharp cheddar or a Mexican blend of cheeses (the ½  cup sprinkles on top)

2 cups roasted chicken breast meat diced or 2 cups tenderized steak diced (or you can mix it, Jess likes it mixed)

1 can tomato sauce

1 teaspoon of chili powder (plus extra to go on the meat, follow directions)

1/2 teaspoon of minced garlic

1 teaspoon cumin (plus extra to go on the meat, follow directions)

1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce

½ cup chopped sautéed onion -

½ cup chopped chile peppers

1 cup drained black beans

1 cup of good jarred or canned chili con queso

The first thing I do is prepare the meat. I roast my own chicken breast – two large ones. I spray them with cooking spray and spice them up with a sprinkling of cumin and chili powder. Once they are roasted and cooled, I chop them up and sprinkle with just a bit of sea salt.

If you are doing beef as well – I chop the tenderized beef steak and then brown them in a skillet with a ½ teaspoon of cumin and a ½ teaspoon of chili powder. I usually gauge it by using 4 tenderized steaks about the size of my hand. By the time they shrink during cooking, it’s about the right amount.

If you are mixing the meats – I usually do the whole amounts then save what’s left over for other dishes.

Prepare your sauce: In a small saucepan combine the tomato sauce, 1 teaspoon of chili powder, 1 teaspoon of cum, ½ teaspoon of minced garlic and 1 Tablespoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce. Stir this mixture over low heat until blended and warm.

NOW TO LAYER:

Put a tablespoon or two of the sauce on the bottom of the pan and then begin layering. You will probably have to cut the tortillas to fit. Layer it in this order – tortillas, a spreading of queso , meat, onions and peppers, black beans, cheese, then cover with light layer of enchilada sauce. Repeat this – beginning with tortillas and ending with cheese until your dish is full.

Bake at 350F degrees until the cheese melts and its warm through – about a half hour.

Enjoy!
